Schwaggle: Groupon for racers?

Chances are you’ve registered for a race through active.com at one time or another. If it was recently, and you haven’t unsubscribed from their email newsletters, you may have heard of Schwaggle.

Schwaggle is active.com’s version of Groupon. It operates loosely on the concept of group buying and offers access to experiences, adventures, services and products tailored to an active lifestyle at discounted prices that Active.com negotiates. The Schwaggle site claims discounts anywhere from 30% to 70% off the price for non-Schwagglers.

I just took advantage of a 61% discount on a GU Sampler pack. The retail price is $76. Through Schwaggle, I paid just $30. Not bad for 20 mixed GU Energy Gels, 4 mixed Roctane Ultra Endurance Energy Gels, 24 mixed Chomps, and 2 tubes of GU Brew Electrolyte Tablets. The discount brought the price down from about $1.50/item to around $0.60/item.

I intended to promote the deal to my readers, but the offer sold out at Schwaggle within one day. Obviously other recipients of the offer noted that sales on energy foods don’t come around very often. So, as not to miss the next deal, check out Active.com and sign up to receive the next Schwaggle.
